Students pursuing marine biology degrees explore physiology, ecology, biology, chemistry, math, and physics at the Eugene campus. In their upperclass years, students dive into three terms of hands-on field and laboratory courses at OIMB, examining various marine biology subjects while gaining research and internship experience. Offering classes like Invertebrate Zoology, Oceanography, Marine Birds and Mammals, and Tropical Marine Biology in Panama, it's no surprise OIMB becomes the most memorable part of our students' academic journey.
Marine science professionals find work in academic institutions, global organizations, government agencies, private firms, aquariums, museums, nonprofit research centers, and municipal offices, or they may work independently. The career paths available to general biologists also extend to marine biologists. This field opens doors to positions in environmental sectors, government roles, medical research, and biotechnology industries.
