The Educational Psychology Ph.D. program specializing in Research, Measurement, and Statistics (RMS) equips students to become experts in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Initially, you'll take core classes in intermediate statistics, research methods, and qualitative analysis alongside other doctoral candidates in the College of Education. The program also includes fundamental Educational Psychology courses as part of its Ph.D. core curriculum.
While the emphasis is on advanced quantitative methods training, you'll also study sophisticated qualitative data analysis techniques.
Advanced studies commence with a Multiple Regression course. Typically, students complete a two-part sequence in measurement and psychometrics, supplemented by specialized instruction in latent variable modeling through multivariate statistics and structural equation modeling classes.
The program offers training in specialized areas including Multi-level Modeling, Simulation techniques, and advanced statistical software applications. After completing coursework, students must pass a comprehensive exam before undertaking dissertation research under the guidance of an RMS faculty advisor.
