The Latin American Studies program is an interdisciplinary field encompassing diverse academic areas such as African American studies, anthropology, Spanish and Portuguese languages, literature and cultural studies, history, philosophy, and political science. The curriculum provides extensive instruction in Spanish and/or Portuguese. Learners can choose to complete either a Major (Bachelor of Arts) or Minor in Latin American Studies.
Alumni of this program typically (1) continue their education through graduate programs in humanities, social sciences, or law, (2) join organizations catering to the expanding Hispanic community in our area, or (3) establish careers in diplomatic services, military branches, government institutions, internationally-focused NGOs, or global business ventures.
