The Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) Department combines the examination of Chicanx and Latinx populations in the U.S. with explorations of Latin America's and the Caribbean's historical, political, cultural, and societal aspects.
LALS curriculum explores evolving political, social, economic, and cultural landscapes, covering topics like migration and transnational populations, gender dynamics, racial and ethnic identities, activism, artistic expressions, Latin America's political-economic transformations, and the struggles and achievements of Latinx communities facing inequality in the United States.
