The Bachelor of Arts in Child and Family Development equips students for careers in educational environments supporting children from infancy through kindergarten, including those with and without disabilities, along with their families. This program meets the requirements for the Standard Professional 1 (SP1) Educator's License in birth-to-kindergarten (B-K) instruction.
Program graduates gain the skills to fulfill both North Carolina's Professional Teaching Standards and the ten INTASC Standards for novice educators, covering areas like Content Pedagogy, Student Growth, Diverse Learners, Teaching Methods, Classroom Management, Technology Integration, Lesson Planning, Evaluation, Professional Reflection, and Community Engagement. Through targeted coursework and hands-on training in diverse settings, students master and implement research-backed approaches in early childhood development and education.
