UGA's Fashion Merchandising program equips students with fundamental knowledge of apparel and textile industry merchandising. The coursework develops essential skills for careers in fashion promotion, retail management, merchandising, and related fields. Subjects covered range from retail buying strategies and international retail operations to fashion history, collection development, store displays, and trend forecasting. Students can specialize in either Fashion/Brand Management or Product Development/Design. The Fashion/Brand Management track allows majors to concentrate on retail fundamentals, purchasing strategies, trend prediction, and brand leadership - skills increasingly demanded by today's evolving fashion retail sector. The Product Development/Design specialization focuses on manufacturing and sourcing, with coursework in digital design tools, global supply chains, production processes, and garment manufacturing, plus optional study abroad opportunities in major fashion capitals worldwide.
