The Economics Department provides an intensive 5-year combined Bachelor's/MA program for eligible students. With advance approval, participants can enroll in 9 credit hours of 400 or 500-level courses that fulfill their undergraduate senior electives while simultaneously counting toward both their bachelor's and master's degrees at UT-Knoxville. Candidates initially earn either a BA in Economics from the College of Arts and Sciences or a BSBA in Economics from the Haslam College of Business. Subsequently, they complete an MA in Economics with just two additional semesters of study. Conditional admission to this accelerated program usually occurs before students enter their final undergraduate year.

To apply for admission as an undergraduate student, each international student is required to provide the following:
A completed application for undergraduate admission.
Complete one required essay chosen from one of seven prompts.
Optional: Submit recommendation letters (academic, professional, or personal) and a Personal Statement.
