The Department of Art and Art History provides a varied and thorough curriculum resulting in several degree options: a Bachelor of Arts (a liberal arts degree in Studio Art), a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art (a professional degree with specializations in Studio Art or Art Education), a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History. Those pursuing the B.F.A. in Art must choose a studio focus area such as 3D Interdisciplinary Studies: Art in Space, Digital Media, Illustration, Painting, Photography, or Print Media, or opt for an Art Education concentration that leads to K-12 teaching certification. Additionally, students can pursue a Minor in Art History. The degree programs are built on these foundational principles: Students must develop fundamental technical skills and aesthetic awareness across multiple studio disciplines. Students should gain familiarity with the shared historical and theoretical foundations of the arts. Students require specialized knowledge to thoughtfully integrate formal and conceptual elements within their chosen field of study.
