The fine arts program offers an interdisciplinary major encompassing various artistic disciplines: music, dance, theater, speech, visual arts, and photography. This degree aims to deliver a comprehensive arts education that highlights both the variety and shared foundations across traditional and contemporary art forms. Recognizing artistic expression as a unique mode of perception—distinct from analytical thinking and verbal communication—we believe artists can achieve comparable creative outcomes through diverse mediums, demonstrating the deep connections between all art forms. The fine arts major enables students to explore these interrelationships. With its broad scope and adaptability, this major suits numerous career paths, particularly those requiring strong creative and expressive skills. It's also ideal for students seeking a general arts education without early specialization. Requirements include completing at least 60 credit units (combining major coursework and general education) with a minimum 2.0 GPA, plus grades of A, B, C, or P in all major courses. At least 12 units must be earned at Irvine Valley College.
