The Art History graduate program offers two primary focus areas, both incorporating multiple specialized fields: Art of the Americas and a broader Art History concentration.
Art of the Americas combines the study of pre- and post-conquest artistic traditions. While examining the evident stylistic and thematic shifts following European colonization, this concentration equally emphasizes architectural studies. Its objective is to foster deeper insight into American art traditions by highlighting their interconnectedness within a unified framework.
Additionally, we provide an Art History degree option. Students can specialize within either concentration area. While developing expertise for their doctoral research, they must also gain comprehensive knowledge of their chosen concentration. Cross-disciplinary coursework across the University's graduate programs is strongly encouraged.
