Earning a Master of Education in elementary education equips you with the expertise, practical skills, and theoretical foundation to excel in modern educational settings. Through coursework, research, and hands-on training in diverse urban and rural schools, you'll develop the confidence to create nurturing, collaborative learning environments. Our program cultivates teacher-leaders who not only master classroom instruction but also drive educational progress within their schools and communities. This M.Ed. program provides certification for elementary school teaching.
UNH offers two pathways into elementary education: traditional graduate admission or an accelerated master's option. The accelerated track lets undergraduates start with education coursework and field experience before transitioning to a fifth-year internship that culminates in both the M.Ed. and teaching license. Throughout the program, we emphasize preparing educators for the realities of diverse classrooms, with special opportunities available through UNH Manchester.
In determining admission of students to teacher education graduate programs, several criteria are used: The undergraduate record. The undergraduate overall minimum grade point average for admission is 3.0. The undergraduate grade point average of students admitted to the graduate programs in teacher education is approximately 3.55 (based on 2020 admissions).
English Language Score:
Minimum score requirements are as follows: TOEFL (Computer-based): 213; TOEFL (Internet-based): 80; IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5; TOEFL ITP (Institution Administered): On case-by-case basis; TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication): On case-by-case basis; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 59.
Applications must be completed by the following deadlines in order to be reviewed for admission: Fall: April 15; Spring: November 1; Summer: April 15.
