The Experiential/Outdoor Education focus area appeals to those pursuing careers in adventure-based learning and hands-on educational approaches within schools and similar environments. This interdisciplinary field encourages doctoral candidates to collaborate with faculty from both the College of Liberal Arts' Education Department and the College of Health and Human Services.
Our Ph.D. program in education aims to deepen your comprehension of educational theory through academic research connected to real-world teaching practices in diverse environments. You'll explore pedagogical challenges through philosophical, sociocultural, and policy lenses, equipping yourself for diverse opportunities in research, instruction, and administration. Alumni have secured positions throughout the education spectrum, from higher education institutions to elementary and secondary schools, as well as various education-adjacent sectors.
