The Master of Education in Special Education program equips educators to support students with disabilities in PK-12 settings. It also offers training for professionals working with infants, toddlers, and their families who have special needs. The curriculum includes an ABAI-approved concentration that fulfills coursework prerequisites for the BCBA certification exam (Option 1). Note that candidates must satisfy other qualifications beyond coursework to qualify for the examination.
Students can choose between two M.Ed. tracks: a non-thesis option and a thesis-based program. These pathways have distinct focuses, so consulting with an academic advisor is advised when selecting the appropriate program.
Specialization options comprise: K-12 mild/moderate disabilities, moderate/severe intellectual disabilities,
behavior analysis applications in special education, autism spectrum disorders (K-12), advanced learning and behavior disorder studies, and early childhood intervention/special education.
