The graduate programs in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction (covering both Elementary and Secondary Education) cater to K-12 educators seeking to expand their professional responsibilities and leadership capabilities while remaining classroom practitioners. These programs empower teachers to improve student learning outcomes while meeting state and national educational standards in curriculum design, evaluation methods, and teaching strategies. Students can pursue Master of Education (M.Ed.) or Master of Science (M.S.) degrees through either on-campus or distance learning options. Additionally, we provide an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) program for those holding a master's degree in education - this advanced 30-credit post-master's program features customized planning with faculty advisors. Ed.S. candidates must complete at least 12 credits of 500- or 600-level education courses at the University of Maine and culminate their studies with a capstone project, which may involve applied research or a supervised internship experience.
