Program Objectives
Graduates from the UNLV School of Music's Doctor of Musical Arts program will:

Exhibit mastery in performing or conducting within their chosen specialization at a professional level.
Apply historical and theoretical understanding to create unique interpretations across diverse musical styles.
Possess in-depth knowledge of their instrument's or conducting medium's history, along with comprehensive familiarity with specialized repertoire.
Utilize music research methodologies and demonstrate the ability to conduct, present, and defend scholarly work in their field.
Communicate effectively through writing and speech, combining performance, historical context, stylistic analysis, and technical knowledge in presentations.

Qualification Requirements

An overall undergraduate GPA and master's GPA of at least 2.75 (or 3.00 in the last two years of undergraduate study).
An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 in music.
Bachelor's Degree - You must hold a four-year baccalaureate from a regionally accredited institution or an approved equivalent.
Transcripts - One transcript from every post-secondary institution the applicant has attended (regardless of whether a degree or credential was earned), showing all coursework, extension and correspondence work, any degrees earned, and the dates that those degrees were awarded. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted as part of the application process. However, if an applicant is admitted, official transcripts will be required by the date specified on the Certificate of Admission. Transfer credits posted on another institution's transcript will not be accepted in lieu of the transcript itself. Only transcripts sent directly from the institution are considered official. Failure to disclose all coursework and/or degrees awarded will result in rescission of admission.
