The UNO Physics Department boasts a dynamic academic environment recognized for its excellent educational standards, wide-ranging research initiatives, and extensive community engagement efforts. Our physics program's diverse pathways equip graduates with the skills to excel in contemporary industries. Notably, approximately one-third of our physics alumni gain admission to prestigious graduate programs, where they can advance their studies in fields like physics, physics education, engineering, chemistry, astrophysics, biophysics, and medical physics. The adaptable curriculum offers multiple tracks to align with students' professional aspirations.
Alongside our Bachelor of Science degree, we provide specialized tracks in Biomedical Physics and Physics Education. The department prioritizes undergraduate research participation and active learning, fostering close faculty-student collaboration that enriches the educational journey. Experiential learning opportunities outside traditional classrooms cultivate both engagement and camaraderie. Research possibilities span various disciplines, including astrophysics, biophysics, medical physics, computational physics, quantum computing, energy materials, solid-state physics, and physics education.
The Biomedical Physics concentration within our Bachelor of Science program is designed for students pursuing advanced studies in biological physics, medical physics, or medical school.
