The Atmospheric Science program stands at the forefront of weather and climate education and research. Distinctive hands-on learning opportunities, such as the Innovative Weather initiative and study-abroad experiences in Mexico, equip students with practical skills in forecasting, risk evaluation, scientific investigation, and communication.
Students can pursue bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees within the program. Undergraduate studies prepare graduates for careers in both private and public sectors, advanced academic pursuits, or roles as meteorologists with the National Weather Service. Graduate research focuses on specialized areas including climate patterns, computational modeling, atmospheric physics, regional and large-scale weather systems, pollution meteorology, and data analysis techniques.
