The secondary education program prepares students to fulfill Nebraska's certification requirements for teaching at various levels (5-9, 6-12, or 7-12) or for PK-12 instruction. The Secondary Education Endorsement curriculum consists of four components: General Education, Endorsement Content, Professional Education Sequence, and Secondary Professional requirements. Students must choose one of the authorized endorsement areas.
The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences includes six academic departments: Counseling, Educational Leadership, Special Education and Communication Disorders, Teacher Education, Biomechanics, and Health and Kinesiology. These departments train professionals for diverse careers such as teaching, educational administration, counseling, public health, athletic training, exercise science, library science, special education, sign language interpretation, biomechanics, inclusive early childhood education, and communication disorders. While the college provides both undergraduate and graduate programs, this catalog specifically outlines undergraduate offerings.
