Alongside the B.S. Ed., undergraduates can pursue a B.A. or B.S. in their field before entering the Graduate School for Master's-level teaching credentials. The College of Education offers Teach in 12, an accelerated one-year post-graduate certification program, alongside traditional certification pathways. Certification graduate credits may count toward a Master's in Secondary Education with supplementary coursework. Prospective Master's-level teacher candidates should reach out to the College of Education's advising office (OASIS) at 314-516-5937. Important: DESE mandates a 3.0 GPA in both discipline-specific and professional education courses, plus a 2.75 cumulative GPA for certification.
Upon graduation, undergraduates should demonstrate the ability to:
Construct coherent, well-structured proofs.
Interpret, evaluate, and verify mathematical proofs or logical reasoning.
Translate problems into appropriate mathematical frameworks.
Address challenges requiring analytical, algebraic, linear algebraic, number theoretic, or basic probabilistic/statistical methods.
Exhibit foundational competence in speaking, reading, and writing a non-English language.
