The Master of Social Work (MSW) program provides both a full-time on-campus track and a part-time online alternative via Mizzou Online. The Advanced Standing MSW pathway is designed for students holding a recent Bachelor of Social Work degree, while those with undergraduate degrees in other fields should explore the Regular Standing program.
The Advanced Standing track requires completion of 39 credit hours. This program is ideal for candidates who:
obtained their BSW from a CSWE-accredited institution or one approved through its International Social Work Degree Recognition and Evaluation Service within the last seven years.
are eligible for a credit waiver of up to 21 hours toward their MSW degree.
In addition to standard admission criteria, applicants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA overall or in their final 60 undergraduate credit hours.
Both online and on-campus formats cover identical curriculum content, with the primary distinction being the method of instruction. All courses in the online MSW program (excluding practicums) are conducted virtually.
