Interdisciplinary collaboration, especially between law and social work professions, can effectively tackle numerous social injustice issues. More social workers are attending law school to enhance their expertise, while lawyers are broadening their involvement in social services.
Case Western Reserve University's Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and School of Law provides an MSW/JD program that enables full-time students to complete both degrees in four years instead of five through an integrated curriculum.
Students in this dual degree program gain expertise in legal and social work methodologies, terminology, research, ethical standards, and foundational knowledge. They become equipped for careers in family or public interest law, service provision, policy development, administration, and clinical practice with individuals and families.
