This program is tailored mainly for individuals aiming to teach mathematics in high schools. To earn the degree, applicants need to hold a current teaching certification prior to enrollment and must successfully finish 30 credit hours of approved coursework. Math 8190 or Math 8090 is mandatory. A minimum of 15 credits must be from 8000-level classes, with at least 9 credits coming from Mathematics Department offerings. Students must complete at least two courses in algebra, analysis, and geometry/topology. A Master's Committee comprising three Mathematics faculty members must approve either the Master's Project (Math 8190) or Master's Thesis (Math 8090) for successful program completion.
