The Classical Arts & Humanities (CAH) PhD program provides a cross-disciplinary exploration of the ancient Mediterranean world, integrating AMS studies with an elective field selected by the student (such as Art, Black Studies, Creative Writing, Digital Humanities, Music, Reception Studies, Theatre, Visual Studies, or Women's and Gender Studies). This program welcomes applicants regardless of their ancient language proficiency (all mandatory AMS courses are conducted in English) who aspire to academic or creative careers extending beyond conventional scholarly boundaries.

Typical completion time: 5 years.

Degree Requirements
72 graduate-level credit hours (7000+), with a maximum of 30 transferable from a Master's program
15 credits must be at the seminar level (8000+)
Either two 9-hour or three 6-hour semesters completed within an 18-month residency period at MU
