The Master of Development Practice (MDP) program provides comprehensive, cross-disciplinary education in public policy, education, public health, and natural and social sciences, preparing graduates for impactful careers in international development. This program arms students with essential tools to tackle challenges related to poverty, social equity, and sustainable growth. Co-managed by the Humphrey School and the University of Minnesota's Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change (ICGC), the MDP program belongs to the Global MDP network. While most participants focus on global development issues, some alumni apply their expertise domestically. The curriculum mandates a 10-week (400-hour) international practicum, blending professional fieldwork with cross-cultural academic training, typically completed during the summer between academic years. Recent student placements have included community-based research projects in countries like Egypt, Peru, Nepal, Nicaragua, Rwanda, and Senegal.
