The Conservation Sciences (CS) program offers a dual-focused, interdisciplinary curriculum with two key aims. First, it equips students with advanced biological science education focused on preserving global plant life, animal species, and ecosystems. Second, it examines the social, political, and economic dimensions crucial for identifying and resolving conservation challenges. Participants can choose among three specialized paths: Conservation Science, Fisheries and Aquatic Biology, or Wildlife Ecology and Management. Additionally, learners have the option to combine legal studies with conservation sciences through a dual-degree law program. This program's ultimate mission is to empower students to create scientifically rigorous, environmentally viable solutions that can be effectively applied within real-world social and political frameworks.
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.50.
Other requirements to be completed before admission: A BS/BA degree in biology or a closely related field is preferred. Applicants with a baccalaureate degree in another field are accepted, but these individuals may be required to take selected courses in biology. In general, PhD applicants holding a baccalaureate degree are first expected to complete a master's degree.
