The PhD program aims to: achieve the pinnacle of academic excellence and autonomous investigation within one of the three specialized fields in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, carry out novel research that substantially advances knowledge in alignment with the Department's focus areas, and cultivate expertise in fundamental scientific disciplines relevant to the Department's specialties. Doctoral candidates must exhibit the capacity to design and execute independent studies. This program prepares graduates to master scientific fundamentals while developing skills for academic instruction and/or advanced research. After beginning residency, including any coursework or thesis work, formal admission to the PhD program is contingent upon successfully completing the Candidacy Examination during the initial residency phase. Enrollment is mandatory during the semester when the Candidacy Exam occurs.
Admission to the Ph.D. program in Wildlife and Fisheries Science requires a master's degree in wildlife and fisheries science or a closely related field, or a bachelor's degree with a minimum grade-point average of 3.30 and demonstrated research ability.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
