The forest and natural resource management program equips students with skills to develop, execute, and study strategies for conserving, protecting, and responsibly utilizing forest ecosystems and associated natural assets. This includes vegetation, timber supplies, water systems, wildlife habitats, recreational areas, and scenic landscapes. The program blends physical, biological, and social sciences with management principles, policy studies, hands-on fieldwork, and cutting-edge resource assessment technologies to achieve ecological, economic, and societal advantages. Participants learn systematic approaches to tackle environmental challenges at local, national, and international levels. The curriculum offers three specialization paths: 1) forest ecosystem stewardship and preservation, 2) park and conservation area administration, or 3) municipal and community tree care. Early selection of a specialization is recommended. Complementary minors are offered for each concentration. Career opportunities include roles as forestry professionals, conservation officers, urban green space managers, environmental consultants, ecosystem restoration specialists, outdoor recreation coordinators, and policy advisors. Graduates are employed by government environmental agencies, private forestry companies, land trusts, conservation groups, research institutions, and international development organizations.
