America's woodlands cover extensive areas and play a vital role in Alabama's economic growth. These sustainable ecosystems offer habitats for wildlife, leisure activities, business prospects, crucial biological materials, and various nature-related career paths. To gain practical field experience, forestry students participate in a summer training program at the Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center near Andalusia, Alabama, between their sophomore and junior years. During their third year, the curriculum emphasizes forest ecology, property stewardship, and timber utilization, while fourth-year students study forest conservation challenges and tree cultivation methods. The program culminates with a comprehensive Senior Capstone Project, where students integrate their accumulated knowledge to create and present a land management proposal to faculty members and property owners.
