Applicants must hold an MPH in Epidemiology or a comparable master's degree in a related field (such as an MS in microbiology) before joining the PhD program. Those missing coursework, lab experience, or field training equivalent to the University of Michigan School of Public Health's MPH Epidemiology Program must complete these requirements during their initial studies. Students with professional doctoral degrees or verified work experience in relevant fields are exempt from the fieldwork/laboratory prerequisite.
