The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program is a full-time academic pursuit providing an interdisciplinary education customized to each student's focus on addressing critical environmental health and engineering challenges. This PhD training in Environmental Health and Engineering (EHE) aims to equip graduates for scholarly work and professional practice that advances knowledge, applies research to enhance environmental and public health, and clearly communicates scientific discoveries. The curriculum includes structured coursework followed by approximately four to five years of dissertation research (formally termed a thesis in official documentation).
The Environmental Sustainability, Resilience and Health (ESRH) specialization develops forward-thinking public health researchers and engineers capable of tackling pressing issues linking climate change, sustainable development, community resilience, and social justice. ESRH graduates will be qualified for various career paths in academia, governmental organizations, international institutions, nonprofits, and corporate sectors.
