The Biology Program provides eight distinct majors, spanning specializations from cellular and molecular biology to ecology and evolutionary studies. New students at U-M don't need to choose a major immediately. Exploring multiple biology courses can help identify which area of biological sciences aligns with your interests. For those pursuing a biology degree, starting prerequisite courses early and consulting a major advisor during your first or second year is highly advised to develop an academic plan. The Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) curriculum delivers an interdisciplinary education in biological and physical sciences, preparing students for advanced studies in biology and medicine with a focus on quantitative and analytical methods in life sciences.
