The discipline of English centers on language as a means of expression and the examination and appreciation of creative literary works. As a cornerstone of liberal arts education, English holds inherent worth in shaping individuals and their role within communities. Those pursuing English degrees examine literary compositions across poetry, fiction, and theater, investigate linguistic and literary theories, and hone skills in crafting and interpreting spoken and written language. Furthermore, students acquire techniques for generating, comprehending, assessing, and deriving pleasure from language in all its culturally meaningful manifestations. Alumni holding English bachelor's degrees have entered diverse professions including commerce, education, and government. Although the English curriculum specifically equips learners for careers requiring teaching, composition, oration, and critical thinking skills, it also serves as exceptional groundwork for postgraduate studies or professional training in law, healthcare, management, and various other domains.
