Careers in urban planning and public policy frequently overlap. For instance, municipal planners frequently aim to advance into leadership roles within planning institutions and governmental bodies. However, administrators lacking planning expertise often struggle to guide organizations successfully, particularly in fast-expanding government sectors. Graduates of the MPPA/MRP dual degree program emerge prepared for impactful careers across federal, state, and municipal levels in policy development, administration, and urban/economic planning.
Dual degree candidates can initiate their studies in either program. Ideally, students should complete one full academic year in their first program before commencing the second. The subsequent year focuses on meeting the core requirements of the alternate program, with remaining coursework for both degrees completed during the third year of study.
