The Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning program at UCF enables students to deepen their understanding of the technical and analytical competencies needed to create forward-thinking solutions for evolving community requirements. This encompasses addressing financial/economic considerations, environmental concerns, and social welfare aspects affecting neighborhoods and their inhabitants. The curriculum explores subjects like environmental policy, transportation systems, and community health planning. Students will also analyze housing policies and land utilization challenges. To conclude the program, participants collaborate directly with municipal agencies or nonprofit entities to research and develop solutions for urban planning problems as part of their culminating capstone project.
This dynamic and expanding field holds special significance for regions such as Central Florida, which are experiencing both population growth and increasing corporate presence alongside expanding transit networks. Located at UCF Downtown, the program fully engages students in diverse urban planning dimensions. This strategic setting offers the advantage of learning within a rapidly developing urban environment while providing direct exposure to contemporary metropolitan issues.
