Our students aim to deepen their grasp of essential multiliteracies by working alongside peers, school leaders, families, and students to create and exchange knowledge about diverse literacy practices. They train to become educational innovators who craft learning spaces and programs that honor each learner's linguistic, cognitive, social, and cultural assets while ensuring fair opportunities for all literacy forms to thrive in our diverse, multilingual democracy. Beyond classroom studies, you'll engage in hands-on initiatives within schools and communities, plus complete a practicum (for those pursuing certification).
Critical multiliteracies—encompassing reading, writing, listening, speaking, representing, and observing—serve as dynamic social tools for communication, emotional expression, collaborative learning, knowledge creation, relationship building, and societal engagement.
