The Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI) graduate program, part of the Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership, provides Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree options. Our department features diverse programs tailored to support students' academic and career objectives, whether in educational research, teaching, supervision, curriculum leadership, teacher preparation, or consulting across all educational levels - from elementary through higher education. Certain M.Ed. specializations prepare students for teaching certification, including pathways for those with non-education bachelor's degrees seeking certification. Additional M.Ed. tracks serve current educators and professionals, while our research-focused Master of Arts (M.A.) in Teaching & Learning, Policy & Leadership (TLPL) caters to education researchers.
This program culminates in a Master's of Education (M.Ed.) degree and qualifies graduates for Maryland State Department of Education PreK-12 World Languages Certification, enabling instruction in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Russian, and Spanish at elementary or secondary levels.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
