The Department of Art History and Archaeology provides graduate programs for both Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Art History. This program focuses on in-depth research and academic analysis of artistic works spanning from prehistoric times to contemporary periods, emphasizing art as a fundamental humanistic expression. Faculty members specialize in all aspects of Western art history, along with the artistic traditions of Africa, the Americas, and East Asia. For admission to the Master’s program, students should have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, or its equivalent. Although the applicant must demonstrate a general knowledge of art history, an undergraduate major in art history is not required. Students are required to submit the Graduate Record Examination scores for admission.
