The Master of Science in Archaeology Resource Management (ARM) is a specialized professional degree delivered through an innovative interdisciplinary program without a thesis requirement. This 12-month program equips students with comprehensive training in the scientific, technical, legal, ethical, financial, and practical aspects of archaeological work, specifically focused on resource management.
Ideal candidates include those with undergraduate degrees in archaeology or related fields, as well as professionals with equivalent experience looking to expand their expertise. Coursework draws from multiple disciplines across the university, including Anthropology, Geography, Geology, and the Historic Preservation program within the School of Environmental Design. As a terminal degree, it strengthens qualifications for careers in resource management. To earn the MS degree, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress, achieve passing grades, and complete a supervised research project culminating in a professional report suitable for publication. The program admits only six to eight students annually to ensure personalized attention.
