The Master of Architecture (M. ARCH) is the NAAB-accredited professional degree, serving as the foundational requirement for those seeking architectural licensure in North America. Students with an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Architecture may be eligible for the accelerated four-semester Path A Advanced Standing Track. Those coming from other academic backgrounds should consider the seven-semester Path B program. Applicants with architecture-related undergraduate studies (without a B.S. in Architecture) will have their prior coursework evaluated for potential advanced standing.
PATH A - Master of Architecture - This advanced track is tailored for graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, aligning perfectly with the University of Maryland's architecture program and comparable degrees elsewhere. This four-semester curriculum culminates in the NAAB-accredited M. ARCH qualification.
PATH B - Master of Architecture - Designed for students with non-architecture bachelor's degrees, this seven-semester program covers essential architectural principles including design fundamentals, representation techniques, building technologies, history, theory, and professional practice. It offers a streamlined pathway to earning the NAAB-accredited M. ARCH degree.
