The Master of Science in Facilities Planning program caters to individuals holding an undergraduate degree in facilities management or professionals with practical experience seeking advanced specialization in their field. This MS program employs a workshop and seminar-driven approach to learning. Collaborative projects, integral to the curriculum, are conducted in Tyler's Architecture Building Facilities Management Lab—a dedicated workspace for all facilities management students.

Participants in this program will:

expand their foundational expertise and/or cultivate specialized knowledge within the facilities management field,
gain insights into user-centric facility management while building professional networks,
enhance teamwork abilities to navigate the intricate realities of the facilities management sector, and
improve their capacity to communicate facility requirements effectively.
Tyler School of Art and Architecture fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration to advance facility planning, design, construction, and operations through education and research. The program emphasizes real-world preparation by having students tackle facility challenges in interdisciplinary teams, mirroring professional workplace dynamics. For those interested in healthcare environments, a Health Facilities concentration is offered through a partnership between Tyler and the College of Public Health.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: A baccalaureate degree is required. Applicants are expected to hold a degree in built environment professions, healthcare management, or related fields. Candidates who studied in other disciplines as an undergraduate but who have gained knowledge of facilities or healthcare management as working professionals are also considered for admission. Official transcripts from all universities/colleges attended, whether or not a degree was awarded, must be sent to Tyler School of Art and Architecture,
Statement of Goals: Approximately 500 to 1,000 words include your interest in Temple's program, your educational and research goals, your future career goals, and your academic and research achievements.
Applicants who earned their baccalaureate degree from an institution where the language of instruction was other than English, with the exception of those who subsequently earned a master's degree at a U.S. institution, must report scores for a standardized test of English that meet these minimums:

550 on the paper-based (PBT)

The minimum admissions standard for all graduate students is ordinarily an undergraduate grade point average of B or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the functional equivalent for students who have attended universities outside of the United States.

Portfolio: All applicants must submit work samples of their most important and representative academic and/or professional work. Work samples can include analytical assessments, research reports, and/or other planning, design, creative, and written work.
