The Department of Entomology provides Ph.D. and M.S. degree programs. Students can pursue research across fundamental and applied disciplines, covering areas like insect ecology, behavior, physiology, anatomy, evolutionary studies, biosystematics, insect diseases, molecular biology, genetics, aquatic insect studies, pollinator science, beekeeping, and pest control strategies. Graduates find career paths in diverse sectors including corporate research, academic institutions, government agencies at all levels, non-profit organizations, and both domestic and international opportunities.
Students applying for graduate work in entomology are expected to have a strong background in the biological or agricultural sciences, chemistry, genetics, and mathematics. An undergraduate degree in entomology is not required, but a strong basic preparation is preferred for admission to the program.
