The department comprises a varied group of researchers exploring suborganismal, organismal, and applied entomology. Faculty members conduct interdisciplinary research using advanced technologies across these fields. Detailed descriptions of their diverse entomological studies can be found on individual faculty websites.
At the suborganismal level, investigations concentrate on insect physiology and population genetics. Specialized research examines insect hormone mechanisms and interactions between insects and their microbiomes. Gene flow analysis employs multiple molecular techniques. Genomic information helps reveal adaptation patterns, landscape-level gene movement, phenotypic genetic foundations, and evolutionary connections among insect species.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
