The graduate program in Computer Science is nationally recognized as one of the best, placing in the top ten among public institutions. Students can pursue both Master's and Doctoral degrees, with nearly all full-time candidates receiving financial support through assistantships, fellowships, or grants. The Department excels in diverse research fields including: AI, computer networks, databases, programming languages, software development, computational science, theoretical computer science, visual computing, geometric algorithms, computer graphics, user interface design, and computational biology.
Our Artificial Intelligence program boasts a rich legacy and maintains an active research and teaching environment. The curriculum covers extensive topics such as AI fundamentals, automated scheduling, cognitive simulations, logical reasoning, genetic algorithms, strategic decision-making, pattern recognition, distributed AI systems, language processing, and neural networks. The AI program consistently earns high marks in national evaluations - for instance, in the US News graduate school rankings, it places 9th overall and 6th among public universities.
