The primary objective of the PhD program is to equip students with the skills to conduct innovative, autonomous research. A key component involves successfully defending a doctoral thesis that showcases this research capability. The program's academic structure supports this aim. The Machine Learning PhD curriculum spans multiple disciplines, incorporating courses from eight departments across three Georgia Tech colleges: Computational Science and Engineering, Computer Science, and Interactive Computing in the College of Computing; Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Industrial and Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering; plus Mathematics in the College of Science.
Applicants for Georgia Tech's graduate programs should hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
