UMBC's Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering provides Master's and Doctoral programs in Electrical Engineering. This section details the Electrical Engineering graduate curriculum, key research fields within Electrical and Computer Engineering, and application guidelines. With 33 permanent faculty members, 15 research professors, four dedicated lecturers, and more than 20 affiliated and part-time instructors, the department fosters cutting-edge research in areas like AI, graphics, computer networks, database systems, computational theory, signal processing, microelectronics, and photonics. The department serves about 1,100 undergraduates across computer science and computer engineering programs, along with roughly 600 graduate students pursuing degrees in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and cybersecurity.
