Pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering equips you to establish a research-focused business, embark on an academic career path, or secure top-tier industry positions. Our program fosters a cooperative, nurturing atmosphere that encourages cross-disciplinary exploration and helps you discover your unique research interests within electrical and computer engineering. The curriculum requires 60 study hours, including 30 hours of specialized coursework (planned with faculty guidance) and 18 credit hours from ECEN 5000-level or higher courses.
Applicants must:
Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or have done work equivalent to that required for such a degree.
Show promise of ability to pursue advanced study and research, as judged by the student’s scholastic record.
Applicants to programs in the College of Engineering and Applied Science must have a 3.00 (3.00=B) undergraduate grade point average.
All international applicants are required to meet a minimum standard of English proficiency.
