The Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Graduate specializations encompass: Biomedical engineering, Power electronics and energy studies, Network science and engineering, Wireless communication technologies, Power systems and smart grid development, Renewable energy solutions, Micro and nanoelectronics, Machine learning applications, Multi-agent systems, and Modeling and optimization techniques. For master's candidates, three pathways exist: thesis-based, report-based, or coursework-only. The coursework-only option is accessible online for remote learners, with focus areas in electrical power systems or communications and networking. Each track mandates at least 30 credit hours. The PhD program requires 60 additional hours beyond the master's degree, including pioneering research worthy of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
