The University of Maine has provided undergraduate social work and social welfare education since the 1950s. The Bachelor's in Social Work degree launched in 1972, achieving initial program accreditation in 1979. CSWE has maintained continuous accreditation of the BSW Program since that time. Currently, the program averages more than 135 enrolled undergraduates.
