The undergraduate social work program provides a 120-credit Bachelor of Science degree. This program's primary objectives, listed in order of importance, include:
Equipping undergraduate students with the essential knowledge, values, and skills for proficient generalist social work practice. Preparing students for ongoing professional development and potential graduate studies.
Rooted in ecological systems theory, the program emphasizes the dynamic relationship between individuals and their environments, where each continuously influences the other. Social work practice focuses on enhancing positive interactions while reducing negative ones within these relationships. The curriculum covers five core areas: social welfare policy, human behavior studies, research methods, practice techniques, and field experience. These components are supported by a robust foundation in behavioral and natural sciences from the College of Arts and Sciences.
