Social Work fundamentally demands a dedication to assisting others and advocating for fairness in society. Our alumni empower individuals and groups to address challenges stemming from economic hardship, discrimination, abuse, or health issues. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Social Work ranks among the professions experiencing the most rapid growth. Students completing Eastern Michigan University's program receive a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Our BSW curriculum holds full accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education, enabling graduates to pursue licensure and qualify for Advanced Standing in master's programs. Applicants to the BSW program must have prior volunteer or employment experience in human services. Social Workers can pursue careers across diverse fields including child protection, behavioral health, addiction recovery, family services, elder care, educational institutions, correctional facilities, homeless assistance programs, community organizations, and youth development initiatives.
